Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge -Love Is In the Air

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:

Love Is In the Air

Hello and Welcome!

I am absolutely thrilled to be featured as this months Spotlight Designer on Simon Says Stamp! The email from Lols asking me to participate came to me on my birthday..what an AWESOME birthday surprise!!

Thank you so much Lols and Simon Says Stamp for this FANTASTIC opportunity!

This week on Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge we were asked to create with the theme.. Love Is In The Air. As always, the first week of the month showcases a product and this week they are featuring Carabelle Studio. So if you have some of these products we’d love for you to use them. But, if you are like me and don’t have any, its not a problem, you can still create for the theme and participate in this weeks challenge.

As always, Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to use in their shop! Good luck and lets get to making!

For my project I decided to create a vignette inspired by one of my favorite movies “Moulin Rouge” …I am a HUGE Tim Holtz fan and created it with one of his Stampers Anonymous Small Etcetera Tags and a couple of his new stamp set releases from this year, Glorious Bouquet,  Ornate Trimmings , and Botanical & Batik.

Lets get started!

First I created the Eiffel Tower tag. To do this I blended a bit of Distress Oxide Antique Linen along with a bit of Cracked Pistachio and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink. After they were blended I sprayed it with some water, blotted it with a towel and dried it with my heat tool. After it was dry I added a bit of Pumice Stone Distress Ink and blended it around the edges of the tag. I sprayed it again with water, blotted it and dried it. I then stamped a portion of the new Batik Background in Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Next I stamped the French Collage Stamp in Pumice Stone and then stamped the Eiffel Tower and word “PARIS” in Jet Black Archival Ink onto the tag.  I then set it aside and started working on the stamped flower embellishment. I stamped the new Glorious Bouquet Stamp onto a piece of watercolor paper with Jet Black Archival Ink, Embossed it with clear embossing powder and colored it with a variety of Distress Inks with a detail water brush. I then fussy cut around it and embossed a bit of liquid platinum embossing powder along the edges.

The heart is an old Sizzix die that I cut, inked with a variety of distress inks and then blended clear embossing ink onto it, then I heat embossed it with Liquid platinum embossing powder. I found that it was a bit to shiny so I took my TH sanding block and sanded it. That did the trick and made it look old and grungy. I typed out the phrase from the movie “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return” on my typewriter, trimmed it and blended some Walnut Stain Distress Ink onto the pieces. The paper to the right of the Paris tag was a scrap of paper that had been inked with a variety of brown distress inks and stamped with a TH script background stamp.

Now for the background of the Etcetera tag…

First I cut a piece of watercolor paper to the size of the Etcetera tag. I blended a bit of Antique Linen Distress Oxide around the edges. Blended a few areas of Cracked Pistachio and dabbed on a couple drips of Milled Lavender Distress Ink onto the tag. I sprayed it with some water, blotted it with a towel and dried it with a heat tool. I stamped a couple areas with the Entomology script background stamp, a music background stamp and one of the Ornate Trimmings all with Watering Can Archival Ink. I added the flowers from the TH Floral Layering Stencil THS077 with texture paste. While the paste was wet I sprinkled it in a couple areas with liquid platinum embossing powder. Waited for it to dry and then heat embossed it. I then added some clear embossing ink through the stencil with a blending tool and added clear embossing powder onto the flowers and heat embossed it again.

Now to the layout… and embellishments!

Embellishments:

The washer for the top of the tag was painted with Picket Fence Distress Paint, dried with a heat tool and stamped with a script stamp in Watering Can Archival Ink, I then inked it a bit with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

I stamped in StazOn ink the lady and man from the TH Tiny Things Stamp Set onto a piece of the TH filmstrip ribbon. I adhered a tiny piece of paper behind each of them with Ranger Multi Medium Matte so that they would be seen.

The heart locket, chain, hearts and key charms are all vintage items found in my junk and trinket collections. Along with the piece of lace.

The “Traveler” vintage label, butterfly and vellum postcard were all from Tim Holtz Ephemera packs.

I adhered the watercolor paper background with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and added some of the embellishments with pop dots.

After I was completely done with the tag and everything was adhered I decided to finish the edges by adding some Tim Holtz washi tape.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Be sure to check Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge next week to see what the next challenge will be! ❤️

Creatively Yours,

Stacy 🙂

Stacy, I can’t remember how I found your blog, but I am so happy I did! First let me say huge well deserved congratulations on being asked to guest design at SSS! It is such a delight for so many people to be inspired by your work! This tag is stunning; so feminine, with a touch of grunge which I just love. It tickles me pink that you pull out some of the old stuff and make it fresh again! I have never the side view of this tag, and was a bit surprised of it’s depth. And I also have to say I think it is so cool you have a typewriter. I almost picked one up at a yard sale just for typing my own sentiments, but there’s just not enough room to keep it.

I don’t know if you ‘do’ challenges, but this would be perfect for our Melt It challenge at A Vintage Journey and for All You Need is Love at Frilly and Funkie. Thank YOU for all your inspiration! Can’t wait to see what you’ll create at SSS!
