Leap and the Net Will Appear

Hello and Welcome!

I’m so happy that you stopped by!  Yesterday was a rainy day here in Ohio, so that gave me some time to create in my studio!  I was playing around with the Distress Oxides and made a fun card background that I thought might work well with the new Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Theories set (CMS329). The new 2018 release begins shipping this week and I had the lucky privilege to receive the sets a bit early. What a happy day that was to be asked to create examples for the Tim Holtz booth at Creativation!! Talk about a leap of faith? I was so honored to be a part of something that showcases so many amazing new products, talents, and ideas, and that I was one of the few to create with some of these products prior to their release.

Recently, I was asked to participate in a Blog Hop with a group of the ladies that created many wonderful examples showcasing Tim’s new products… Another happy day! I’m so excited to join them and their many AMAZING talents! The Blog Hop will begin this Friday, February 2, so be sure to stop back over! …but until then, check this out!

Lets begin!

First I started by smushing some of the Distress Oxides around on my craft mat. The colors that I chose were… Peacock Feathers, Walnut Stain, Faded Jeans, Frayed Burlap and Peeled Paint.

Then I added a bit of Evergreen Bough Distress Ink with a blending tool.

Then I added a bit of Pumice Stone and Walnut Stain Distress Inks along with some sprays of water from my distress sprayer and then dried it off with the heat tool in between layers.

This is the final color combo…

Then I set this aside and started on my tag for the front…

First I stamped my man on the wire with Jet Black Archival Ink, sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heat embossed it.  With a blending tool I blended Peacock Feathers and Peeled Paint Oxides and then blended Evergreen Bough, Pumice Stone and Walnut Stain Distress Inks…along with a bit of sprayed water, then dried it with the heat tool.

I added some circles blended through the new Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Dotted Stencil and stamped the phrase with Jet Black Archival Ink. The circles were added to both the background and the tag. I used the lid of my paint and stamped them with Walnut Stain Distress Paint/water combo. Then dried it with the heat tool.

I used a Distress Splatter Brush to add some of the Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink/water combo to splatter onto both the paper and tag.

I stamped a couple of numbers from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Ultimate Grunge Stamp Set (CMS075) and cut a background from an old dictionary page that had been inked with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I adhered the dictionary page to my background and with pencil lined up where I wanted my sewing line to go.

With my sewing machine and black thread, I stitched along the pencil line on both the background and along the stamped line on the tag. (I stitched the background twice and the tag once.)

I punched a couple of circles out of a dictonary page and inked them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Stitched a criss cross pattern on both, trimmed off the extra thread and used them to embellish the card. I also inked a few of the Idea-ology Sprockets and Gears with Gold Mixative and Mushroom Alcohol Ink and a tiny bit of Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint that I dabbed on with my finger to give them a little patina. Two of the gears were attached with a couple Hex Fasteners.

All the pieces were adhered together onto a dark brown card base that I cut from  the Paper Stash Classic Craft Pad. A couple of the layers were pop dotted to give the card some more interest.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Be sure to stop back on Friday for the Blog Hop. I can’t wait to see all of the creative ideas that this wonderful group of ladies will be sharing! You won’t want to miss it!

Creatively Yours,

Stacy 🙂
