Hello all and welcome!
I’m back today with a project that I created for the Stampers Anonymous Christmas release using the new Etcetera Cathedral Windows. They are beautiful and perfect for Holiday Vignettes. The windows come in a package that contains two large windows (4″ x 6 1/2″), and four small windows (2 5/8″ x 4 1/4″). I combined one of the large windows with a Mini Size Etcetera tag and a few Etcetera Trims to complete my vignette.
This project was inspired by a few of my favorite Christmas decorations. A Church that my Grandpa built for my Grandma back in the 1950’s and by the vintage Putz houses, pinecone elves and bottle brush trees that my mom collected and displayed at Christmas time.
I cherish the decorations that have been passed down to me and wanted to try and capture some of those feelings in this piece.
I started out by embossing a piece of Metallic Kraft Stock from the new Metallic 3 pack…this is the pewter colored one, and it’s perfect for vintage projects. I cut the paper to fit the front of the Mini Etcetera Tag, sanded it with my sanding block then ran it through my Vagabond using an older texture fade entitled Fancy & Floral Frames. I adhered the paper to the etcetera tag with Distress Collage Matte Medium and blended Walnut Stain Distress Crayon over the embossed details.
The window and trims…
(sorry about the lack of step-out photos for this project…I was wrapped up in creating this piece and was on a time crunch, so unfortunately the photos didn’t get taken.)
I lightly painted the window and trims with a coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint and dried it with my heat tool.
I applied Opaque Crackle Texture Paste randomly over the window and trims and set them aside to dry and crackle.
After they were crackled, I rubbed on a bit of Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint on them and set them aside to dry. Next, the window and trims were rubbed with Walnut Stain Distress Crayon and a damp finger.
The tree and reindeer…
I sprayed a small Woodland Tree with Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray and embellished it with a few idea-ology Baubles that had been colored with a variety of green Alcohol Inks and one of my favorites, Mushroom.
The baubles were then applied to the tree with Distress Collage Matte Medium then the tree was sprinkled with Mica Flakes and glitter dusted with Clear Rock Candy Glitter.
The idea-ology Reindeer was painted with Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress Paint, rubbed with collage medium and glitter dusted with glitter and sprinkled with a few mica flakes.
I painted a few idea-ology Snowflake Adornments with Antique Linen Distress Paint. After they were dry, they were blended with Mushroom Alcohol Ink, dusted with glitter and tied to the window with string.
The “Merry Christmas” Ephemera piece was blended with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and lightly sprinkled with Mica Flakes.
I created a shelf with the Etcetera Trims and adhered it to the bottom of the Etcetera tag with collage medium. When the shelf was dry I began arranging the vignette.
The window was applied to the etcetera tag with pop-dots. Then the embellishments were all arranged on the shelf and adhered. I added a few more idea-ology ephemera pieces, some floral moss, a stick and a few pinecones.
Next I added, yep, you probably guessed it…more Distress Mica Flakes! 😉
I know.. I’m a bit obsessed with the mica flakes, but you know what? They’re AWESOME and I’m totally OK with it 🙂
after all my embellishments were adhered to the tag, my Christmas window was complete…
Thanks so much for stopping by today…see you soon!
Creatively yours,
Stacy
