(cms106) Papillon, (cms213) Perspective, (cms253) Wildflowers, (cms269) Mini Bouquet Outlines,
(cms294) Flutter, (cms326) Ornate Trims…
All are perfect for summer card making and gifts.
Here’s a look at the first set of Stamps and Stencils that I started making with… Mini Bouquet Outlines, this set of stamps have two different styles of flowers so I decided to start with the outlines as I LOVE to watercolor these types of stamps. I created tags and Gift Card Envelopes using the coin envelope die in a favorite Tim Holtz Die Set entitled “Collector”.
It is the perfect size for a gift card! So, lets get to making them…

I started with creating background papers to use as the base for my flower stamping and coloring, it adds a little more interest to the backgrounds other than using plain watercolor paper. The key is to keep the background neutral as you will be adding some color to the flowers. I chose Pumice Stone Spray Stain and Unraveled Mica Stain.
I sprayed a piece of Distress Watercolor Paper (smooth side) with water, then sprayed a combo of the sprays to the paper, then dried with a heat tool.

I placed a few of the flowers into a stamp platform and stamped the images using Ground Espresso Archival Ink. Archival Ink is permanent and a perfect ink to use for watercoloring.

I used a combination of Distress Watercolor Pencils to watercolor the flowers. To do this, I dunked my preferred color into some water, scribbled the color onto a craft mat, then using a paint brush, added layers of color to the flowers.

I left my stamped paper within my stamp platform as I painted as I wanted to finish the flowers with a final stamp of the outline of ink. This creates a sharper image and finishes the flowers nicely.

After the images were colored, I placed the matching dies onto the flowers then used a Low Tack Purple Tape to keep the dies in place as I ran them through my Sizzix Big Shot.

Purple Tape is magic and makes die cutting over top of pre stamped shapes so easy.

Next, I created some background papers using a couple background stamps and a variety of Spray Stain and Distress Ink. The stamps I used for the backgrounds is called Tiny Prints (cms460).

Using a tag die, I cut a variety of tags, then using my sewing machine, stitched around the edges. I paired a second tag behind the first tag for signing or adding a greeting, then using foam adhesive tabs, adhered the flowers to the front tag.
I cut a few of the coin envelopes using some cardstock, then adhered the envelopes together using thin tape. I stamped a phrase on the left side of each of the envelopes Tiny Text (cms394), then adhered a piece of idea-ology Cello Sticker Tape to the bottom of each of the envelopes. I punched a hole into the top of each envelope flap, then tied on a tag set using cotton string.

I tied a couple of the tag sets together without an envelopes using the same cotton string. With that, my tags and gift card envelopes were complete.
