Welcome to the nest!! I consider myself a mixed media paper artist and rubber stamper. I create with paper, markers, pens, pencils, rubber stamps, inks, dyes, paints, watercolor, vintage paper, vintage jewelry, books, buttons, ribbons, lace, haberdashery (don’t you just love that word), vintage knick knacks, baubles and junk…basically anything old and interesting that can be reused, repurposed and loved. I have been a collector of little things for as long as I can remember. I love getting my hands dirty with ink and playing with my supplies to see where a project creatively takes me.
I was always the girl who played with scissors, crayons and paper and I had a special place in my heart for art class. In 1st grade my report card told of me having trouble bouncing a ball, but how precise I was when cutting with scissors!!
Creating makes me happy and sharing it with others brings me joy.
When I’m not in my attic art studio, I’m spending time with my extremely supportive husband, Eric, my son, Zach, or my sister, Amy. I love my family. I also love to shop for vintage items for my home and vintage supplies for creating. You can never have too many!
In 2001, I discovered scrapbooking and card making. I quickly became addicted, got a job in a scrapbook and stamp store and began teaching classes. My sister and mom started the hobby as well and together our hobby grew into a love that we shared together. Unfortunately, the store closed but after, I became a demonstrator for a home-based rubber-stamping company. I taught classes, and made many friends while teaching stamp camps and workshops at our family farm.
In 2011, my dear mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and our hobby, that we so loved, was put on the back burner so that I could devote my attention to her and my family. Sadly, she passed away in April of 2014 and although it’s been a difficult road, I’ve slowly been rediscovering my creative side. My sister and I lost our best friend and biggest supporter. But God is good, and creating has been a way for me to have a little part of her back. I have a super supportive family, friends, church family and people like you out there who love creating just as much as I do.
I am inspired by many people and my surroundings. Antiques have always decorated my life. I grew up going to garage sales, flea markets, auctions, and antique shops so naturally, vintage is my love. This love pours over into my creations.
I discovered and became obsessed with Tim Holtz products in May of 2015 while attending the Mega Meet in Novi, Michigan. I had a couple of his ink pads but really had no idea about his other products. I had been slowly getting back into the paper crafting scene and was invited by my dear scrapping friends to go to Novi. I happened to walk by the Stampers Anonymous Booth while Tim was demoing and that is where I remained until the end of the day. I was hooked. I couldn’t wait to get home to play with my purchases that day. His products are a natural fit for me, distressed and vintage inspired.
My hope is that this blog helps you to “feather your nest” and discover how your own creations can take flight!
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
Creatively yours…Stacy
