Hello everyone…I hope you’ve had a fabulous February and welcome to March!
I’ve got a short tutorial for you today for a card that I created with the recently released stamp set and by recent, I mean TODAY, March 1st… ๐ it’s Grunged CMS402 and of course, I love it. ๐ค
Here’s what the set looks like…
I combined it with another new set, Tiny Text CMS394.
First, I created the paper, using Distress Watercolor Paper, some distress sprays, both oxide and regular and water. To some of the drips of water, I sprinkled on a light combination of the new embossing glazes, Cracked Pistachio & Hickory Smoke) and then embossed the areas with my embossing heat tool.
Yum, check out the effect…
the tag that you see in the photo below was created with the left over inks that were left on my media mat. I spritzed a tag with water and dipped it into the inks, then again, I lightly spritzed the tag and sprinkled and embossed it, just like I had done the background paper. It didn’t get used on this project, but it’s all ready for another play day!
I stamped the background paper with the Grunged pieces with Black Soot Archival Ink and stitched with my sewing machine around the edge of the background.
The photobooth photo and card embellishments…
I scratched up the photo with my sanding grip and then rubbed some outside areas of the photo with a distress embossing dauber. Then I sprinkled it with Antique Linen Embossing Glaze and embossed it with my heat tool.
With a Paper Distresser, I roughed up the edges of the photo. I again, lightly sanded the embossed area, to add more age to the photo, then rubbed it with a little Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I stamped the photo with the stamp below (found in the Classics #6 SCF006) lightly with Black Soot Archival Ink. Then rubbed the photo very lightly with a combo of Distress Crayons. (Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs, Evergreen Bough)
Next, I began arranging.. I messy stitched around a scrap of paper, then added a scrap of Metallic Paper that had been embossed with the Foundry 3D Embossing Folder. I love to use the scraps in my scrap basket for small collages like this one. You may recognize it from the previous heartbeat card that I shared a couple of weeks ago… ๐ keeping your scraps ALWAYS comes in handy!
I found an old map in my stash and ripped off a small section to add to the collage.
I painted with distress paints, an idea-ology arrow, small game spinner and sprocket gear and attached them together with a small brad.
Then I layered on a piece of scrap paper with the phrase “go+see+explore” from the Tiny Text set.
I finished the background paper by stamping different elements from the Grunged and Tiny Text sets.
I found a piece of paper from the Abandoned paper stash that went perfectly with my card (by the way…Abandoned is now available in the regular idea-ology line, it came out at halloween but because it’s so awesome and everyone loved it, its a regular thing!! Woohoo!) then trimmed it down to frame my card, and began adhering all the pieces together with foam squares and Collage Medium.
Check out how perfectly it goes together with the card, this was not a planned thing…I love it, though!
Ah, the magic of distress.. how all the inky things go with all the other yummy things! Perfect!
With that, my card was complete!
Thanks so much for stopping by today…see you soon!
Creatively yours,
Stacy

Such an awesome card…You will not believe…I just received the SCF006 stamp set…I love the number/ledger stamp and the stitching stamp, and…well I guess I like them all….LOL.
I love everything about this project!
Thanks for breaking down how you did it.
I love this, with all the elements, layers and scraps! Love the grungy look! Love it all! Thanks a lot for sharing!
What did you mount it on. Iโm always trying to find new things other than a card. This looks different and love the entire project
I love the tiny strip of Foundry 3D paper – isolated like this the tiny rivet screws look amazing. The Antique Linen distress embossing glaze works perfectly on that photo. The pistachio and turquoise colours shine like insect wings Such a visual treat, as ever!
