Hello there! Happy Monday! I hope that you are tarting your week off well…I am back today with a short tutorial for a card that I created for the Sizzix Chapter 1 release. This card is a bit spring inspired. Even back in January, I was looking forward to some spring weather.
The flowers and leaves were cut using the new Brushstroke Flowers 2 and inky background papers that I had created long ago.
When I received the set, the first thing I did was go to my inky paper bin and began cutting layers to create some of the flowers. I chose the purple background to create flowers that look like violets…one of my favorite little spring flowers. They seem to the first to pop up as the grass begins to green just after winter. They hold a special place in my heart as they were my mom’s favorite flower.
I thought that these brushstroke flowers went really well with a background that I created using the Stampers Anonymous Vines and Roses Stamp set (CMS298) and a variety of distress inks. Because I had so much fun creating the backgrounds, so I decided to focus on those today as they made the perfect backdrop for the flowers.
I spritzed a piece of paper with water and some Frayed Burlap Distress Spray Stain, then dried it with my heat tool.
Using a variety of colors, I lightly dabbed the ink pads directly onto the stamp. I started with the lighter greens, pinks and purples until my stamp was inked up well.
Then I spritzed the stamp with a few quick mists of water and stamped onto the paper. It might not look so great when you first stamp it, but don’t fret, dry the paper using your heat tool and daub off some of the muddy areas of the ink with a dry towel.
And look at that yumminess… the perfect background.
I cut out a couple stitched ovals using some other backgrounds and began building the card. Some Mummy cloth and a bit of ribbon was added. Then I stamped a phrase using the Tiny Text (CMS394) and added it below the flowers. I ran the background through my sewing machine adding stitches to the right and left edges. All the layers were added to a card base, and with that, the card was complete.
Thanks so much for stopping by today..
See you soon!
Creatively yours,
Stacy

Sooo pretty!! I just got Brushstokes #2 and may have to use yours for inspiration!! Can you tell me how you got the zig zaggy onto your ovals? Adds a great detail. Ohhh, and your background…can never get mine to look so good. I need to practice alot more!!
Thanks so much, Dawn! Happy that you like it…those zig zags were made by the stitched oval die set, which unfortunately it isn’t available anymore. But you might be able to find them online
Was the zig zag die also from Sunny Studios??
Hi Dawn, no, the sunny studios one doesn’t cut the zig zag, (I’m not sure what other sets have the zig zag other than the retired tin holtz set) I just added that set as a comparable since the stitched ovals set wasn’t available and the sunny studios ones were of similar size. 😊
Duhh…I remember saying I didn’t neeeeeed these…Thank you so much. You don’t want to sell yours, do you?? 🙂 Your cards and projects are always sooo beautiful.
I have been searching and found Tim’s die over at Stampers Anonymous…just thought you may want to know!!!
