Hello all!!
I’m back today with a project created for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Halloween and Fall Facebook Live that was a couple of weeks ago..if you didn’t have a chance to see it you can check it out HERE! It was a blast to create with the new stamp designs and I can’t wait for you to create with them too. This time I created a sign that could be a fun project to create with kids. This could easily be changed into a Halloween card or treat bag tag as well.
I used two new Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Zombies (CMS350) and the Tangled Webs (CMS346) along with my new favorite Sizzix 3D Lumber Texture Fade and the new Tangled Twigs Thinlet to create some spooky fun!
Let’s Begin!
First I started by creating a background of Distress Oxide and Distress Inks. I blended a variety of spooky halloween colors (Dusty Concord, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, Twisted Citron and Black Soot) onto a piece of watercolor paper and sprayed the inks with water, dried it with my heat tool and blended and smooshed some Black Soot Distress Ink, until I had a blend that looked spooky enough…then I stamped a few of the Tangled Webs with Black Soot Archival Ink.
I stamped a few zombies with Black Soot Archival Ink on to watercolor paper and then colored them with a variety of Distress Markers and a Detail Water Brush…
I think I have a Zombie crush on this one…maybe it’s his whiskers, maybe it’s his brains…regardless, he’s my favorite!
Then I fussy cut them out…
after they were cut, I decided that I should have embossed them… oops!
No worries though, because they were fussy cut, I simply dabbed on a bit of Ranger Embossing Ink on to the stamp.
Then I carefully placed the zombie over top and pressed down.
I picked him up and sprinkled him with clear embossing powder and heat embossed him. Fussy cutting for the win.. he landed in the right spot! Whew!
Up next was the warning sign…
I trimmed a piece of watercolor paper and blended it with Mustard Seed and a bit of Black Soot Distress Oxide. Sprayed and dripped some water and then cut out the word “WARNING!” with the Sizzix Alphanumeric 1″ Tall letters.
I placed them where I wanted and then used some post-it note tape to keep them in place, while I ran them through the Vagabond.
Then I stamped the phrase underneath with Black Soot Archival Ink… don’t you just love that phrase? Too funny!
(I cut the phrase so that I could stamp it in a continuous straight line)
Next, I cut a piece of black cardstock to fit behind the sign.
I embossed a piece of gray cardstock with the Lumber 3D Texture Fade …and then cut it to fit behind. I blended the lumber with Black Soot and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and a Black Soot Distress Crayon.
I cut a piece of black cardstock with the new Sizzix Tangled Twigs die and smooshed them with the Ranger Embossing Dauber, then embossed areas with some clear embossing powder. This was then cut apart, scrunched up and used with the lumber as a mat embellishment.
I adhered all my pieces together, added a couple Hex Fasteners and pop-dotted the Zombies so they stood out.
To hang the sign, simply punch a couple holes in the top two corners and tie with a piece of black jute or string.
Thank you so much for stopping by today…and keep an eye out for some more creepy tutorials in days to come.
Creatively Yours,
Stacy
