Hello and Welcome back!
Today I am sharing another sample that I created for the Tim Holtz Creativation 2018 Sizzix Booth…If I had to choose, I think that this project was my favorite out of all my creations I sent for the show… It combined a lot of my loves… Stamping, die-cutting, embossing, idea-ology, texture paste, vintage embellishments and that lovely tiny bird from the Milagros Adornments!
I used the two new Sizzix Die Sets, Mixed Media 6 and Funky Florals #2 along with an older set, the Mini Detailed Butterflies.
Plus, some of the new Idea-ology, Baseboard Frames and Adornments Milagros.
Let’s begin…
First I started by prepping an Idea-ology 6×8 Burlap Panel. I lightly dry brushed some Ranger Dina Wakley White Gesso around the edges of my panel. I did this with a very light hand and then used a heat tool to dry it.
Then, on my craft mat, I blended a bit of Walnut Stain Distress Paint into some Ranger Texture Paste and with a palette knife spread it through the Flourish Layering Stencil, I then sprinkled a bit of Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder and then set it aside to dry. When it was all dry, I embossed the powder.
the background papers…
first I cut a piece of watercolor paper and using the alphabet die from the Mixed Media 6 set, I cut it out in the left hand corner of the paper. I stamped it with the Handwritten stamp from the Entomology stamp set and blended it with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and some Walnut Stain, sprayed it with water, dabbed it off and dried it with my heat tool. I placed a piece of bright floral paper from the Idea-ology Wallflower Paper Stash and adhered it to the back.
the side paper…
I used a scrap of paper I had left from another project…It was a piece from the Etcetera Paper Stash the I spread some texture paste through the Rosette Layering Stencil with a palette knife. I let it dry and then blended a bit of Frayed Burlap over top. Next, I used a piece of water color paper that had been blended and inked with various Oxide Inks that matched my color scheme. I cut out the word “FOUND” and placed another piece of paper behind the cut out area. Antique Linen Oxide was used to create the color coming through the cutout.
the Baseboard frame…
I sanded a bit of the edges and then, with a palette knife, blended some white gesso and a tiny drip of gathered twigs Distress Ink Refill together and added it with my finger to the frame, after it was dry, I blended some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide on to it.
the butterfly…
This butterfly was created using some scraps of paper that I had blended with various Distress Oxide Inks…gotta love it when you have scraps that you didn’t like at first but kept, then they turn out to be the perfect embellishment! I cut my pieces with the butterfly die and blended both pieces with a bit of Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and then added a little bit of the Liquid Platinum Embossing powder to the outside detailed wings. Embossed it with a heat gun, and adhered the butterfly together. This is the original blend…not my favorite at all, but then the magic happened!
the leaves…
The leaves were cut from some scraps of paper with some of the leaf dies from the new Sizzix Funky Florals #2 they were blended with different shades of green oxide and distress inks…then with a bottle of Ranger Embossing liquid with the dauber top, they were inked and then I embossed them with clear embossing powder. I added some Vintage Platinum Glitter Dust to the ends of some of the leaves and flower buds. The butterfly and leaves were adhered to a tiny piece of a worn corner of a book page and placed.
the pocket watch…
I then used some Picket Fence Distress Paint and lightly added a small amount of paint to the pocket watch and after it was dry, added some Mushroom Alcohol Ink to give it a more worn look. On the inside of the pocket watch I added a bit of paper that had been punched from a circle punch, a small flower from the Tim Holtz Bouquet pack that was smooshed into some Antique Linen Oxide and dried, with a Fossilized Amber Distress Marker, I colored the center of the flower. A bird charm from the new Adornments Milagros pack and a vintage button. I tied some thin jute to the watch and tied it to my baseboard frame, then I added a bow with Crinkle Ribbon that had been stained with various distress inks and dried. I then added a small crocheted circle behind the pocket watch. The phrase “the most beautiful thing” came from the Clippings Sticker pack. It was blended with some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and a bit of Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, sprayed with water, dabbed off, dried with a heat tool and then added to the bottom of my frame.
Thank you so much for looking and I hope you have a wonderful day!!!
Creatively Yours,
Stacy
