Hello All and Welcome!
Happy Holidays! I hope you all are well. I’m back today with a couple holiday cards created with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Cool Yule Thinlets Die Set and Shadow Script Christmas Thinlets Die Set. Both of which were released for the Holiday Season. I created these back in August and apparently was approaching my deadline as I do not have too many process photos. Oops… but I think I have enough to give you the general gist of them 🙂
The Cool Yule set has quite a few quirky little characters that you can accessorize in an endless amount of ways…super fun and festive! I chose to gussy up two reindeer…
Let’s begin!
For both of these cards I used a technique called Mono-printing…if you are unfamiliar with the technique you can hop over to THIS POST and it explains it more there.
The papers I created by mono-printing fit perfectly behind my two reindeer…
This paper was created by making one background using my blending brushes and a variety of distress inks then after it was made. I spritzed the stencil with some water, flipped it over onto a piece of watercolor paper, dried it with some paper towel and then dried it with my heat tool. Voila! Two separate backgrounds for the price of one!!! Because of the detail of this particular stencil (Holiday Knit THS028) the blending brushes were the perfect way to get into all those tiny spaces.
I began cutting the parts and pieces of my reindeer with a variety of scrap papers that had been previously blended and created with distress inks.
I cut out the words “merry and bright” from the Shadow Script Thinlet set and blended them with a variety of distress inks to create an ombre effect. Then cut out some greens from the Festive Greens Thinlet set.
My backgrounds were cut using the Stacked Postage Thinlets set, in a few different sizes. I stamped the Holiday words (CMS281) onto the smaller size postage piece and blended it with some ink.
This background was created with the Peppermint Layering Stencil (THS095) using the same mono-printing technique.
I stitched around the outside of the backgrounds using my sewing machine and black thread then began arranging my layout.
I glittered the girlie reindeers’ bow and glasses, then stitched around her background with my sewing machine and cream thread. I added little pompoms to the bottom of both of their scarves.
With that, my swanky reindeer cards were complete!
Thank you so much for stoping by today…Happy Holidays!

Getting ready for next Christmas! But — just what did you use for the christmas words on the postage die set behind the reindeer? Not the Merry & Bright which is the die set you have listed. Please advise . Still inspired to follow your inspiration – even in January!

Hi Mary!!! It’s actually from a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Background Set called Stripes and Holiday CMS281…thank you for pointing that out 🙂 I forgot to include that in the supplies. I will add it to the list. I’m so happy you’ve been inspired…that truly makes me happy! Have a great evening! ♥️
