Hello all! I’m back!!
Did you catch Tim on Saturday for the final release of 2021? It featured the new fabulous color, Villainous Potion…a GORGEOUS new dark purple hue that is perfect for all you Halloween, Fall and, as far as I’m concerned, any and all your makes! HERE is a link to watch the replay.
I was so happy to make for the new color and am always excited to stand alongside Paula, Zoe and Cheiron. They are all AMAZING makers and besides that, super sweet and I am so happy to call them friends too.
If you haven’t seen their blogs, you need to check them out!

Today’s tutorial features my FAVORITE make that I created from the Villainous release.
the little things…which brings together my favorite things. Distress inks, vintage buttons, stitching, Tim Holtz Ephemera …how cute are the new Curator bits, and there was even a purple one in the pack ๐ paper pieces, fabric scraps, tattered vintage lace, and ribbon. Shabby chic vintage yumminess!
I brought together Villainous Potion and Crushed Olive…oh my heart, they blended SO WELL. Toss in a olive tone fabric covered vintage button, that I picked out of a tin full of grungy buttons, and a piece of tattered denim and I am one happy girl.
I started creating this make by digging through my stack of backgrounds and decided on this one using Villainous Potion Spray Stain in both regular and Oxide and the Crushed Olive Spray Stain.
I spritzed a piece of watercolor paper with water using the distress mister then spray on the colors. The purple and green created a bit of brown when mixed together..which I love!
I dried the paper with my heat tool, then dripped some villainous Oxide, then spritzed with a light mist of water, to activate the oxide, then dried it again!
I gathered some little bits to create the story and decided on the layout.
Using another scrap of background paper, I stitched an additional piece of inked paper to the top of the background to make the paper long enough to cover a #8 Etcetera tag.
A piece of mummy cloth was inked to give it some age then stitched to the seam where I stitched at the top of the tag.
I painted the Etcetera Tag washer with Antique Linen and Villainous Potion Distress Paint and trimmed a piece of idea-ology Backdrops Paper to cover the back of the tag.
I sprayed some ribbon that had been previously dyed with Distress green spray stains with some Villainous Potion Oxide spray drips and water, then I dried it with my heat tool. The purple and green together that mixes into a brown with some yellow tones is just a vintage lovers dream..my mom collected vintage pansy things, and this ribbon totally reminds me of her..I love how it turned out! The Oxide Villainous brings out brighter tones and made it so YUM!
I also dyed a piece of string using the Villainous Spray Stain Oxide and added some drips of Brushed Corduroy.
I stitched randomly around the tags edge using straight and zigzag stitches using my sewing machine then began arranging my pieces. Some flowers were added to the vignette by using the Funky Nature and Garden Greens Thinlet sets. These were cut out of various scrap paper pieces which were given some added drips of Villainous to highlight the new color.
I stitched some vintage buttons to the centers of the flowers, then, using the string, stitched cross-stitches randomly around the photobooth photo. Some more dyed string was wrapped around a tiny stick, this project just called for one ๐ and to add more whimsy, a flower tucked in with the string.
All the pieces were placed then adhered to the tag using collage medium.
I found a phrase in the idea-ology Sticker Clippings book that fit my theme perfectly, and adhered it to the tiny purple curator label, and placed it within the collage.
How perfect is that tiny label? ๐
I punched out a circle that fit the Etcetera Washer from a piece of my scrap papers, dripped it with some Villainous Ink, sprinkled it with some Villainous Embossing Glaze and embossed it.
It was then adhered the washer then to the etcetera tag, then I tied the crinkle ribbon through it.
With that, my project was complete…
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and seeing all the up close details of it.
Have a great day and be sure to stop back again soon!
Creatively yours,
Stacy

I am new to all this, but found the Curator snippets the bomb for Idea-ology’s Halloween release, and they just arrived all the way DownUnder. The bar was certainly high, but you exceeded it. I am so very happy that you made a tutorial. As I venture into 3D makes, this is the first one I will try when my next supplies show up, and so I appreciate the fine detail photos. I wonder… what sewing machine needle & thread do you like? I bought a jeans needle. Is that a darning needle to sew the cross-stitches? And yes – what a lovely haze your ribbon has with those colors altogether – versatile for Halloween or any vintage project. Thank you so much.
