Hello friends…I’m back, that didn’t take long did it?! I just couldn’t stop creating with the new Distress Oxide Minis and the color collections that I used previously…when you love the combo of browns, blacks, greens and creams, it really isn’t that hard, so I thought I’d share the cards I created with you. The new colors come in color family combos..you can check them out HERE. He released a rainbow of colors and by the end of the year will release all 72 colors!! So stay tuned…more creative goodies will be coming!

For this project I used two different stamp sets Tiny Prints CMS460 and the Embroidery CMS486 along with the matching die set exclusively through Simon Says Stamp.

I also used the Collector CMS338 for the tiny labels and the Ornate Trims dies for the trims on the side of each of the cards.

Let’s get to it!
I started by gathering up all the Oxide Minis and their corresponding color mini in the regular Distress Mini line. Together they work so beautifully to create muted and bright tones.

I smooshed each of the colors below onto the floral background stamp applying the ink pad directly to the stamp. I started with the regular Distress Inks, then added each of the Distress Oxides starting with the lightest color first. Once the colors were applied to the stamp, I spritzed a quick mist of water, then stamped the image to my piece of Distress Watercolor Paper (smooth side). After I had stamped the first time, I spritzed the leftover ink on the stamp with water and stamped it again next to the first stamping, then I dried with a heat tool. I used a full half sheet of paper (4.25″x 8.5″) as I was planning to make a type of slimline card. If I had any “unstamped” areas, I spritzed them with water to create a blended look, then I went on to create the next floral background.

I did exactly the same process with this background but switched out my colors. I dried the backgrounds then set them aside to work on the floral embellishments.

Using my stamp platform, I stamped one of the floral images using Black Soot Archival Ink, then began watercoloring the image using some of the inks that had been smooshed onto my craft mat. I left the stamped paper in the platform and watercolored the image using a paintbrush and a combination of the inks. Once I was finished painting, I slightly dried it, then stamped the image again to create a crisper image. After that, I spritzed the image with some Distress Mica Stain (Unraveled) then dried the spray and removed it from the platform.

Once the image was dry, I matched up the Simon Says Stamp Embroidery die set to the flower and ran it through my BigShot to cut out the shape. These dies match up so perfectly to the images and make creating so easy…no fussy cutting needed!

I went on doing the same watercoloring using another floral image from the set along with a couple other colors of ink, then cut out that image too.

Using the mini Distress Oxide Stamp Pads, I added ink to two small labels from the Collector Stamp Set making sure to coordinate them with their matching florals. The labels were trimmed to size using scissors.

I trimmed the background papers to be approximately 3″x8″ to create a Slimline type of card.

I cut out a few trims to use along the long sides of each of the backgrounds. The die set I used is the Ornate Trims set of dies that match the Ornate Trims Stamp Set…I just used the pieces of trims without using the stamps. They make the perfect edging!
I blended the first set of trim pieces using the Mini Blending Brush and Black Soot Oxide Ink, then left the second set of trims plain, cut from Distress Watercolor paper.

The pieces were adhered to the back of the card using a bit of collage medium, and pieced together to create the long edge..then I trimmed of the excess that ran over.

I stitched both the right and left edges of the backgrounds using my sewing machine and stitched a bit on each of the floral elements leaving tiny bits of the threads to hang.

Then the backgrounds were adhered to paper that was cut and folded to create the cards. Both the floral elements, labels and backgrounds were adhered to the cards using foam adhesive.
With that, my cards were complete!
