Hello friends! Welcome back! I hope you all are doing well and that this post finds you and your neck of the woods warming up for Spring. We started warming up a bit…enough to get me in the springtime mood, but as we speak, it’s snowing! Mother Nature can’t make up her mind I guess. But either way, I am ready for Spring!
Today, I have a quick post for you sharing another sewing project that I made using the new Tim Holtz Colorblock fabric line. I know…all my posts lately have been dedicated to sewing projects, but I just had so much fun making them, that I can’t help but share. I hope these easy projects have been fun for you to look at and that maybe it has sparked some sewing time for you too! And if you’re not into the sewing thing, don’t worry, I have some mixed media paper crafting tutorials coming very soon. Pssst…new things are coming! 😉
Anyways, these Scissor Pouches are the COOLEST! In fact, I’ve now made 3 of them, 2 with Colorblock and 1 using a fabric from the Tim Holtz Regions Beyond Halloween release…that fabric is called Beloved. Here’s a look at all 3 of them together. The first one was made using the Mosaic Colorblock, it’s the smallest pattern. The second was one that I changed up by stitching some scraps together to create the pattern that included the Tiled & Mosaic and a Selvedge piece from one of the Colorblock Fabrics… so much FUN, I love using the selvedge part of the fabrics! This project would be so fun to make for gifts for crafting friends or use to store scissors for traveling in a craft bag.
I LOVE this pattern and guess what? It is a FREE pattern over on Sotak Handmade Svetlana Sotak has beautiful designs and she has super easy video tutorials that anyone can make…even for people who don’t have much sewing experience. So be sure to click the link and check out her Youtube channel.
For the pouch, I slightly changed it up a bit and made it 1/2 inch bigger (I did this by adding 1/4″ edge around her pattern) this was done to make it a good size to hold my Tim Holtz Tonic 9.5″ Craft Sheers.
Here’s a peek at the pattern cut out, I decided to create a scissor pattern from a sheet of Freezer Paper to use for future makes. The pattern calls for pieces of fabric that are cut to 6″x11″ so using a few fat quarters would work to make them.
I hope you give the pattern a try and have fun switching the fabrics up and making pouches for all sorts of scissors.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
