Hi Guys!
I have a really quick post for you today, highlighting the tag I made yesterday at a Relay For Life Crop hosted by one of my friends. I am not one that crops well with others…LOL! I prefer to be in my own creative space at home, listening to music and playing with my stamping supplies, not that I don’t like to be with people, I do, that’s the problem. I get so focussed in on the conversations and fun that I get side tracked. But…yesterday was a good day! I was able to play because working on something as small as a tag was the perfect size project for me.
This tag was created and inspired by the Tim Holtz Photo Booth photo of the cute sailor. (he’s the guy right on the front of the package, and little did I know at the time, it’s Paula Cheney’s Dad…what a cutie!)
UPDATE: FYI!! 🙂 …If you are a fellow Tim Holtz Addict and happened to see the Facebook Live on Saturday, Tim announced that they were working on a new package of the Photo Booth Ideaology. This is not them…those he said would be released soon and that they would be promoting it on his website/Facebook. Tim, Mario, Paula and his team are always great at keeping us in the loop. 🙂 So be on the lookout for those…I’m sure they will be worth the wait!
Here is a link to his website if you would like to bookmark it!
Anyways, that photo inspired me, along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge “Let’s Doodle”, to create a vintage inspired tattoo. Because doodling and tattoos go hand in hand. I found all sorts of inspiration on Pinterest for creating the tattoo and thought I’d share how I did it.
Here’s an example of the cool Vintage Sailor Jerry Tattoos I found on Pinterest.
The first thing I did was create a heart stencil, I didn’t have my Vagabond with me or any heart stencils, so I created my own with watercolor paper but my preferred way at home would have been to cut a heart from a die set and to use that.
I blended some Candied Apple and Barn Door Distress Ink over top of my tag and then added a bit of Aged Mahogany to add a bit of shadow to the heart, then I traced the heart with a Medium Size tip Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen. These are waterproof and work great along with the Distress Inks because they don’t smear when the get wet! I added some sketchy marks around the heart and sprayed some drips of water onto it, then dried it with my heat tool.
Then I created the banner from a scrap of water color paper, wrote the word Mom, blended some frayed burlap distress ink onto the edges and traced around and added some more sketchy lines to it to make it look like a banner. The wispy ends were added later.
Next, I blended some Black Soot Distress through the Stampers Anonymous Mini Crossed Stencil, and blended some Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire and Frayed Burlap Distress around the edges of the tag and made sure to cover the area around the heart. I stamped a border from the Ornate Trimmings (CMS326) with Chipped Sapphire around a few edges of the tag. Then stamped a partial stamp of the Newsprint background stamp (CMS266) in Black Soot and stamped a partial of a ticket from Ticket Booth (CMS337) I added a piece of ephemera from a Tim Holtz pack and a vintage button, the photo booth photo and ephemera were all distressed with a paper distresser tool and blended with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
At the end I added the doodling with my medium size black Pitt pen and adhered all the pieces to the tag.
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
Creatively Yours,
Stacy

Stacy, Thank you for posting this wonderful tag, I just love it! Your timing is perfect…my son is a sailor and is home on leave following deployment. He will be heading back to his duty station in a few days and your tag provides creative inspiration to keep me busy (and a little less sad) after he leaves.
Gratefully, Liz
Aww, oh my goodness! It makes my heart so happy to hear this…I will send up prayers for you and your son! And it’s absolutely true, keeping our minds busy and creating helps so much. Thank you so much for telling me and for his service to our country! ♥️🇺🇸⚓️ God bless!

Stacy, your tag is very creative and and I love it.
Actually, I recently purchased this “Idea-ology Photobooth ~ An Eclectic Collection of Vintage Photobooth Photo Strips”.
However, please advise if this Photobooth #TH93207 is part of the new 2018 Tim Holtz 2018 Release. It was not clear to me.
Thank you.
Hi Carolyn! Thank you…this is the old pack, not the new 2018 package. I was so excited to here that they are in the process of updating and working on releasing another pack! ♥️ The photo booth pack is the best! Thanks for asking and stopping by, I’ll be sure to edit my post 🙂 ~Stacy♥️
Stacy, this is so cool! That background truly is amazing, and I love the heart and banner with the doodling! You are an artistic genius! I totally get what you mean about crafting with others. I also get caught up in the ‘catching up’, and find it hard to focus on the art side! You seemed to have worked around that by creating this stunning tag! Thank you for the inspiration! Hugs!
Thank you so very much, Sara Emily!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️ I’m so happy that you like it! I’m glad I’m not alone in not cropping well with others…LOL! Hugs! ♥️
