Hello friends! Happy Tuesday!
I am back today to share another on my creations that I made for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 Debut that Tim hosted on his Youtube Channel a few weeks ago. Here’s a link to the LIVE. The products and beautiful inspiration are fabulous, so if you missed it, hop over and check it out.
For this card, I just had to go in a fall direction. I know we’re several months past the season, but it’s one of my favorites and when I saw the Woodgrain Colorize thinlet set, I just had to go for it. You know I love a good woodgrain, as I have shared many a project featuring the 3D Woodgrain Texture Fade…and you all know my natural tendancies towards sticks…so, I couldn’t help myself.
Here’s a peek at the card. The detail that is created using the colorize layers is AMAZING!
I gathered up several scraps of background paper that fit with the autumn feel of my card. I have a whole basket full of scraps that I keep so that when I need itty bitty bits for die cutting, they’re at the ready. The leaves and twigs were cut using the Funky Foliage Thinlet set, one of my favorites.
I created several brown-ish background papers using distress spray stains and ink pads Some of my favorites that I used were Walnut Stain, Antique Linen, Ground Espresso, and Vintage Photo. I spritzed, sprayed, dipped and dried several pieces in various shades to cut the layers, then adhered them together using collage medium and a tiny foam adhesive piece that I stuck directly behind the knot of the woodgrain slice. (see the photo below)
I stamped a phrase from the Tiny Text CMS394 onto a scrap of inky paper, embossed it and trimmed it into a banner then began arranging my layout.
The inky background paper that you see below was one that I found in my stash, it really blended perfectly with the woodsy look that I was going for…always handy to have those backgrounds pre-made and just waiting to be used.
I spritzed my inky background with a very light mist of water, then ran it through the new Quilted 3D Texture Fade. Oh my goodness, isn’t this a beautiful texture? It totally looks stitched! It was the perfect way to add a little extra oomph to the card and take it up a notch, and so easily, no sewing machine involved! Quilted 3D also adds a leather texture to the paper too!
I created an inky brown background for behind the embellished card front layer, stitched around the edge and added it to a card base. I tied a thin piece of jute around the left side of the phrase and adhered the entire card together using foam tape and adhesive.
With that, my card was complete.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and for all the kindness that you share with me. I so appreciate your sweet comments and appreciate the time you take from your day to stop by, take a peek and share with me.
Have a great day!
Creatively yours,
Stacy
