Today’s project was made using the new Flutter Tim Holtz Stamp Set and Simon Says Stamp Die Bundle set. Fussy cutting no more…at least with these new bundles available exclusively from Simon Says Stamp.

The tags also feature the small file folder from the Tim Holtz Vault Noteworthy Thinlets set. Tags don’t always need to be a tag shape…they can be whatever shape your little heart can dream up!
In this case, my heart wanted it in the shape of a mini file folder!

Let’s get to making…
I started by gathering some of my mini distress ink pads (Aged Mahogany, Lumberjack Plaid, Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire and Vintage Photo), and a coordinating color of Distress Spritz (Weathered Wood) along with my butterfly stamp from the Flutter Stamp Set and a Stamping Platform…a key to this technique.

I started by applying a combination of the inks directly to the stamp, then after the ink was applied, I spritzed the stamp with a quick spray of spritz, then a quick spritz of water, then I stamped the butterfly onto a piece of Distress Watercolor Paper (smooth side).

Once the image was stamped, I spritzed the stamp with another spritz of Weathered Wood Spritz, then dried the image with a heat tool.
FYI, if you think an area of the image needs more color, simply apply your color to add, apply it directly to the stamp, spritz with water, and stamped image again. Do this until the image looks the way that you want it.

After the image was dry, I rubbed it with Speckled Ink using a blending tool to add color into the background.

Here’s a look at another combination of inks and spritz using another shape butterfly. It’s a fun way to color the butterflies and the spritz adds just the right amount of shimmer.

Then I lined up the new coordinating dies to each stamped image and cut them out.

I cut out a few mini file folders using the Vault Noteworthy Thinlet Set and pieces of Tim Holtz Distress Heavystock Kraftstock. I also cut out the file folders using scraps of idea-ology patterned paper using the same file stencil. I cut the files in half along the score line and adhered the patterned paper to the front of the file folder piece.
I added 3 different idea-ology tickets to the front of the mini file folders and adhered them using foam squares. I then added small pieces of the idea-ology cello tape in random areas of all 3 tags.

I punched a hole in the left side of each of the files, then set some eyelets in them. The edges of each of the folders were rubbed with a variety of Brown Distress Ink using a blending tool.
The back sections of each of the file folders was stamped randomly and sprayed or inked with brown ink and Distress Spritz.

I adhered a butterfly to the front of each of the tags, then tied the tags together with cotton string…

With that, my tags were complete!

Wow!!! These are really Gorgeous!!!
Oh boy, the butterflies are so natural and detailed! I just love how you put these together.
I really like how you showed how to use the ink then spritz on the stamps – it really makes a wonderful effect – especially on butterflys! Can’t wait to try this out!
I love how you used the file folders, as tags.
These are the coolest tags ever! Such great techniques! I am definitely going to try this! 😍
Beautiful work
Great job! Love your tags! Great job! You can’t go wrong with Tim Holtz & Simon says stamp!
Ooh the color combos are gorgeous!
Love these tags!
They came out beautiful. And using the Distress Spritz, instead of just water, to get that watercolor effect when stamping is such a great idea. I can’t wait to give it a try.
These tags are gorgeous. I really love the color combos on the butterfly stamps. Using the small file folders as tags is such a great idea and creates such a beautiful aesthetic look to match the butterflies.
Beautiful tags ❤️.
