Hello friends! Hope you’re doing well today…I have a new tutorial for you today made using the new combination of Tim Holtz Pumpkinhead Stamps and exclusive from Simon Says Stamp matching Wafer Dies.
The wafer dies match the stamps perfectly and help when wanting to create quickly without too much fussy cutting. Here I created a card and some tags using the set. Perfect for tying to Halloween Treat bags or favors. Inky Halloween theme is always a GOOD idea! Making tags and inky backgrounds is a favorite thing of mine to do…and those can be made either made or cards!

So let’s get started!
I started by creating a background paper to use as the paper I was going to stamp the pumpkinseeds and watercolor on, so it needed to be a permanent color, I rubbed Black Soot Archival Ink onto a piece of Distress Watercolor Paper (smooth side) then dried it with my heat tool.

I stamped the pumpkin images onto the paper using Black Soot Archival Ink and my Stamping Platform so that I could restamp them and make them dark. I left the paper inside the platform, then colored the images using Distress Watercolor Pencils.

I dipped some colors of Watercolor pencils into water to activate the pigments, then colored the pumpkins. After coloring the pumpkins using a wet paintbrush to blend the scribbled colors, I dried them using a heat tool. I watercolored the images keeping the paper within the stamp platform so that I could restamp the images using the Black Soot Archival Ink. This makes the images crisp and clear after coloring!

Once the images were colored I used the Pumpkinhead wafer dies to cut out each of the pumpkins. To keep the dies in place, I used low tack tape to keep them in place when I ran them through Sizzix Machine.

I stamped the witch hat from the Halloween Doodles Stamp Set and matching wafer die set. I stamped the images on scraps of the same paper, then colored the hats and in the same way as I had the pumpkins.

I used a bit of statue Alcohol Ink to color the buckle on the hat, then restamped the image a few times with Black Soot Archival Ink until the image was crisp.

I cut the hats out using the matching die set.
I cut a small slit in the rim of the hat, then used that area to slip the pumpkins in to create the look that they were wearing their witch hats.

I created some inky backgrounds for each of the tags using coordinating colors of Mica Stains and Black Soot Distress Spray and water.

After the backgrounds were dry, I blended a variety of coordinating Distress Inks and Oxides using a blending brush through a star stencil, then after blended, I used a bit of Sparkle Texture Paste through the stencil using a palette knife.

I used a small tag die to cut out tags for each of the pumpkin witches.

The tag background was created using the Black Soot Archival Ink pad to create a “spiderweb” pattern onto the paper. A quick and easy way to create a spooky background.

I cut out several stars using a star background die set. Using the leftover die pieces, I adhered some of the stars using collage medium to each of the tags.

After the stars were adhered, I used a small amount of Distress Mica Stain to add a little shimmer to each of the stars, then dried with a heat tool.

To create the card, I stitched around the edge using my sewing machine, I attached some bones and a spider and matted the tag onto a piece of black paper. The tag was then applied to another card base that had been trimmed to fit it. I stamped a phrase and placed it on the front of the card.

The tags were adhered to the front of some of that Archival Inked “spiderweb” paper, punched with a hole punch, and tied with a bow at the top. All ready to attach to a bag of treats! With that, they were all complete!
